We all love to geocache. So just how addicted are you? Are you planning to take a vacation this year specifically to go geocaching?

Plenty of vacations planned, but none specifically for geocaching. The first thing I do after we decide where we are going is look at the gc maps. But that's for me to do when the family is at the beach and I get beached out.

Yes we do plan some of our vacations around caching. Our geocaching trip this year in Sept (after the Hale series of course!) is to get Arizona and California on my caching map, and get rid of the asterisks next to them because only (B) has those 2 states right now. Bill of course may tell another story about this trip's intentions - I've let him believe that we are going on this trip just to fill in these states on his "where I have ridden my Goldwing" map. No one tell him please that I "owned" him when planning this trip.

Does ASP count? If so then yes. Planning on leaving Thursday PM. Doing 100+ caches Friday. Event on Saturday. Home on Sunday. Three days is a vacation right?!

Well, I plan my routes around caching ... I recently went out of my way on a trip to OH to be able to add WV to my map. But I don't plan any trips specifically for caching, at least not this year.

I was just planning a trip to CT for work, and I realized that I will be only about an hour drive from Rhode Island - a state I haven't cached in yet - so I immediately started checking out caches there!

If I had the money, I'd certainly do it. But until spouse finds a new job (anyone need a plastics engineer or chem e?) or the pay rates for freelance writing go up, we are strictly local.

I don't get a vacation this year. I might take a day off here and there, but I would only be caching locally - so that wouldn't count.

I've got dreams of big caching road trips for the sole purpose of racking up miles, states, special locations, or all of the above. But that won't happen anytime soon.

My parents, OTOH, just piled up 70-plus caches in 4 states on a 2-week trip to Myrtle Beach. The joys of retirement.

I haven't planned a vacation around caching, but like others have mentioned I always check out the caches in the area.

There is a conference coming up in Boston soon and the map shows I'll be tantalizingly close to a few states we haven't gotten to cache in. I may find myself deviating from the direct path to where I need to go to visit a couple of new states. Wink

Well I think it counts that I have taken a week off in June to just have to myself to cache and will definitely cache out of the area.

I will be heading to Sackets Harbor tomorrow for a geocaching workshop, and I will take a vacation-ly trip on my way there and back... but it's still just an overnight trip, not a real vacation.
